In the late 1950s and early 1960s, Hong Kong was rife with police and gangster collusion, creating a chaotic and fearful environment. Amongst this, Kowloon Walled City stood out as a notorious place where gangs thrived and sent shivers down people's spines. The idle young man Ah Hao (played by Lau Ching-wan) and Ah Lok (played by Ng Jing-hoi) inadvertently got involved in this chaotic scene and were swept away by its atmosphere, losing track of reality. They teamed up to cheat at horse racing, which attracted the wrath of the bookkeepers, and it was only thanks to the intervention of the local big shot, Fat Boa, that they managed to escape with their lives, thus changing their fates. Ah Hao became an apprentice to Fat Boa, and he developed a bold romance with Fat Boa's sister-in-law, Ying (played by Pang Dan), displaying bravery and prominence; meanwhile, Ah Lok became a policeman and married a girl named Fei Fei (played by Athina Liu) who had a past with Ah Hao. In order to provide a comfortable life for his vain wife, he chose a path of corruption and moral decay. The two brothers, one in the shadows and the other in the light, fought together to forge a world of their own...
