At the Kichijoji branch of Tokyo Flying Horse Bookstore, the assistant manager, Riko Nishigata (played by Izumi Inamori), possesses exceptional leadership skills. For many years, the staff have relied heavily on her, with all matters being decided by Riko. Unconsciously, the employees have gotten used to this routine work that requires no personal expression, until one day a new employee arrives and changes the atmosphere of the Kichijoji branch. The newcomer, Aki Kitamura (played by Mayu Watanabe), is a carefree rich second-generation girl. She has an unparalleled passion for books, and with her lady-like identity and personality, she unavoidably brings many of her ideas into work, which leads to clashes with Riko. After a series of events, they seem to begin to understand each other's true intentions, but the life and battles of the bookstore girls are just beginning...
