This film is based on Philip K. Dick's short story "Adjustment Team." David Norris (played by Matt Damon), who is destined for the political stage, is a rising star in politics. During his confident campaign for New York State Senator, he unexpectedly meets the beautiful ballet dancer Alice (played by Emily Blunt), and they fall in love at first sight. Just as their feelings deepen, David is suddenly abducted by a group of mysterious individuals in black suits, hats, and sunglasses. This group, claiming to belong to the Federal Bureau of Temporal Adjustment, tells David that he is destined to be president and that Alice will become a world-renowned choreographer.
