The secret cooperation plan between the military and the automotive industry is at risk of being canceled, while the revived Megatron and Starscream lead the Decepticon army, plotting to seize the energy source and attempt to unleash another bloody storm on Earth. At this time, the protagonist Sam (played by Shia LaBeouf) is bidding farewell to his girlfriend Mikaela (played by Megan Fox) as he embarks on the university life he has long desired. However, everything doesn't seem to go smoothly; a small shard of the cube seems to be giving Sam some sort of insight. To obtain the information within the cube, the Decepticons begin to pursue Sam; Optimus Prime sacrifices himself to protect Sam, inspiring him to take up his mission once again. With the help of his roommate Leo (played by Ramon Rodriguez) and 'Agent Simmons' (played by John Turturro), Sam and his girlfriend Mikaela follow the clues from the cube shard to Egypt, where they discover the energy source inside the pyramids. At this moment, the Decepticon army also arrives in Egypt. Meanwhile, a small military team, at the request of General Morshower, brings Optimus Prime's body to Egypt, where the forces of good and evil engage in a life-and-death struggle in that golden desert.
