After enduring countless battles and trials of life and death, the strong and courageous warrior John Rambo (played by Sylvester Stallone) lays down his weapons and lives a peaceful life of meditation in Thailand. One day, Colonel Trautman (played by Richard Crenna) suddenly appears before him. Not long before, the Colonel was ordered to lead a unit to Afghanistan to assist local warriors in resisting the Soviet invasion. Although the photos of Afghanistan's civilians suffering from foreign invasion and devastation are shocking, Rambo refuses the Colonel's invitation. One night, Trautman's unit is ambushed by Soviet troops during a mission, and he himself unfortunately becomes a prisoner of war. Upon hearing this news, Rambo can no longer remain bystanders.
