The CIA received intelligence that one of their agents had turned traitor, planning to sell the list of CIA operatives stationed in Eastern Europe to a foreign espionage organization. Under the direction of the team leader Jim (played by Jon Voight), a group of agents including Ethan (played by Tom Cruise) headed to their trading location. However, when they arrived as planned, they fell into an ambush, and apart from Ethan and Jim's wife Claire, the other team members were killed. At that moment, $120,000 inexplicably appeared in Ethan's account, making him the prime suspect of being the mole. With no options left, Ethan had to rely on himself to venture into the lion's den to find the traitor among them.
