The film is based on a true story and tells a love story between two women set against the backdrop of war. In Berlin in 1943, during the Nazi era of World War II, married woman Lily (played by Juliane Köhler) leads a passionless life until she meets Jewish woman Phyllis (played by Maria Schrader) at a concert, igniting a passionate romance. They affectionately call each other Amy and Gaguya, deeply in love with one another. Phyllis has been gathering information for an anti-Nazi organization until one day in 1944, she is tragically killed by the Nazis. In love amidst the ravages of war, who can escape the pain of separation and loss? When true love transcends race and gender, does a paradise-like Eden really exist?
