Lord Vader (played by David Prowse) drives the Resistance out of their base and sends out thousands of probes to search for Luke Skywalker (played by Mark Hamill). The Resistance lies in ambush on the icy planet Hoth, where Luke is captured by a snow creature during a patrol mission. After using the 'Force' to escape, he passes out and hears Obi-Wan Kenobi (played by Alec Guinness) telling him to go to the planet Dagobah to train with Jedi Master Yoda. The Galactic Empire launches a massive attack on Hoth, and Han Solo (played by Harrison Ford) along with the Wookiee Chewbacca (played by Peter Mayhew) escapes with Princess Leia (played by Carrie Fisher) and the droid C-3PO aboard the Millennium Falcon. They take temporary refuge in Cloud City on Bespin, where they encounter Han's old acquaintance, Governor Lando Calrissian (played by Billy Dee Williams), only to discover that Lando has made a deal with Lord Vader to betray Han and set a trap to lure Luke in. Despite Yoda's warnings, an untrained Luke insists on going alone, leading to an inevitable fierce battle. This film won the Academy Award for Best Sound and Special Achievement in Visual Effects, and was nominated for Best Art Direction-Set Decoration and Best Original Score.
