This project invites documentary filmmakers from around the world to address the common subject of 'Why Poverty' and has produced eight one-hour documentary episodes, encouraging global contemplation on poverty issues and discussing the past and future of the one billion people living in extreme poverty. The series began global broadcasts in November 2012, with over 70 television channels including Taiwan's PTS, UK's BBC, America's PBS, Japan's NHK, and Hong Kong's RTHK joining in the joint airing, with an estimated total viewership exceeding 500 million.
