The transformation of time and space, the shuttling between the present and the future, is happening mysteriously with Jack (played by Adrien Brody). He was originally an American soldier who participated in the Gulf War. An accidental gunshot wound caused him to lose his memory, making him an amnesiac. To make matters worse, he was mistaken for a murder suspect and brought in for interrogation by the police. Due to being deemed mentally ill, Jack was spared from prison and instead taken to a mental institution as a subject for a scientific experiment. Doctors dressed Jack in a skin-tight suit and placed him in a morgue. It is dark and cold here, with only fragmented memories accompanying Jack. Among these fragments are images of his future self, a beloved woman named Jackie (played by Keira Knightley), and messages indicating his impending death. In his memories, Jack sees his future self, searching for a key to life amid a glimmer of hope.
