This film is a remake of the 1984 Hollywood movie of the same name. 12-year-old Dre Parker (played by Jaden Smith) moves from Detroit to Beijing, China, with his mother (played by Taraji P. Henson) and meets a Chinese girl named Meiying (played by Han Wenwen) who plays the violin at his school. Dre's relationship with Meiying draws the dissatisfaction of a small group led by Cheng (played by Wang Zhenwei). During a fight, Dre, at a disadvantage, is saved by the apartment manager, Old Han (played by Jackie Chan), but he offends Cheng's martial arts teacher, Master Li (played by Yu Rongguang). Old Han and Master Li agree that their students will compete in a martial arts tournament. From then on, Dre begins to study Chinese kung fu under Old Han, training from basic techniques to personal development, slowly grasping the essence of martial arts and life while also building a deep friendship with Old Han. But with only short-term training, can Dre ultimately defeat Cheng in the brutal tournament and achieve victory?
