This film is a political satire comedy, mostly featuring the crew from the critically acclaimed British television series 'The Thick of It'. The American President and the British Prime Minister suddenly want to start a war. They promise it will be a quick and decisive victory! American General Miller (James Gandolfini) does not think so, and the British Secretary of State Simon Foster (Tom Holland) agrees with him. However, after Simon unexpectedly expresses support for military action on a prime-time television show, he suddenly finds himself with many friends in Washington. If Simon can reach certain people in Washington, if his aide (Chris Addison) can successfully get an intern (Anna Chlumsky) into bed, and if they can prevent the Prime Minister's chief strategist Malcolm Tucker (Peter Capaldi) from manipulating the UN vote, they can stop the war. If they can’t… well, at least they can fire their advisor Judy (Gina McKee). The Judy they never liked, who is at home dealing with voters upset over pipeline blockages and the irate man (Steve Coogan) throwing a fit over a collapsing wall.
