That night, they stay at her home, joyously drinking and singing, filling the small house with rare laughter. However, the elderly lady passes away soon after. When her family arrives for the wake, Tora-san meets the elderly lady's granddaughter, who was born a bastardo after her mother was deceived and ultimately took her own life due to societal rejection. Carrying the heavy burden of her family's past, she cherishes Tora-san's help, grateful for the happiness he brought her grandmother at the end of her life. Having just been laid off from her job at a printing company, Tora-san enthusiastically assists her, and his brother, feeling obligated by Tora-san's commitment, quickly helps her find a new job. Tora-san notices that a young man living downstairs, studying law, has a crush on her.
