However, Batman Bruce Wayne (played by Christian Bale), wanted by the police on charges of murdering Dent, has gone into hiding in Gotham City. This seemingly peaceful state is shattered by the arrival of terrorist Bane (played by Tom Hardy), who uses Catwoman (played by Anne Hathaway) to steal Bruce's fingerprints, putting Wayne Enterprises at risk of bankruptcy and leading to Bruce's ousting from the board. To ensure that the energy project investments of Wayne Enterprises are not exploited by evil forces to create a nuclear bomb, Bruce helps Miranda (played by Marion Cotillard) become the chairperson of the board. Bane's subsequent series of meticulously designed plans plunges Gotham City into isolation, and the day of its destruction is imminent.
