As the story develops into the third season, Lenù (played by Margherita Mazzucco) finally escapes the slums. Having achieved academic success, she not only becomes a respected professor but also publishes her first novel. After marrying the aristocrat Pietro (played by Matteo Cecchi), they soon have children. It is only after the birth of their first child that Lenù gradually discovers the constraints and devastations that marriage imposes on women. At a time when her relationship with Pietro is on the brink, the reappearance of Nino (played by Francesco Serpico) becomes the last straw that breaks this relationship.Meanwhile, Lila (played by Gaia Girace) finally frees herself from the exploitation by the factory and reclaims the money that rightfully belongs to her. With her son, she moves back to the old neighborhood, which had once trapped her like a nightmare, but where the power dynamics have now changed.
