Alan (played by Danny Lee) and Ah Tian (played by Chow Yun-fat) grew up as street urchins in Macau, relying on each other and forming a bond stronger than brotherhood, determined to make a name for themselves. Just as they finally start to succeed and enjoy their rise to prominence, Alan finds himself on the run in Thailand after killing an underling of the triad boss, Gao Laosi (played by Siu-Ming Lau). Meanwhile, Ah Tian encounters his childhood playmate, Kashi (played by Chingmy Yau), at the site of the nun's convent where they used to play, and they develop mutual affection, pledging to be together for life. Kashi hopes that after marriage, Ah Tian will turn to a legitimate career, and they plan to leave Macau for a life in Hong Kong. Just as Ah Tian is preparing to bid farewell to Alan, the pursuit led by Gao Laosi intensifies. As the crisis looms, where will the two brothers ultimately find themselves?
