The unremarkable salaryman Kōzumi Takeshi (played by Naoto Takenaka) unwittingly reaches the age of retirement after a lifetime of hard work. At this point, Kōzumi doesn't feel any emptiness or loss; instead, he looks forward to beginning a comfortable retired life. In the days to come, he strolls through various corners of the city, exploring both well-known and lesser-known small shops, savoring the delicious foods of the world, and reminiscing about the past. However, what detracts from the experience is that he often encounters some morally questionable diners who, for various reasons, make loud noises and stir up trouble. Though he feels indignant, Kōzumi, who has always been cautious throughout his life, dares not express his anger.
