The 1978 version of the film, starring Christopher Reeve, features him in a total of four versions of the "Superman" series movies. As Krypton is about to be destroyed, scientist Jor-El sends his infant son Kal-El (played by Christopher Reeve) to Earth in a spaceship to preserve the race. Kal-El is raised on Earth by the Kent couple and renamed Clark. He possesses superhuman abilities and will become the guardian of justice and truth on Earth. As an adult, Clark comes to Metropolis and works as a reporter for the Daily Planet. In everyday life, he is a mild-mannered ordinary reporter, but in times of crisis, he transforms into Superman, the guardian who wears a tight suit and cape, soaring freely in the sky. When the evil Lex Luthor attempts to take over the world, Superman is the only one who can stop him.
