Samad is a police officer in an anti-drug task force, searching for drug lord Nasser Haqzad. After several rounds of confrontation, although Nasser seemingly committed suicide, Samad managed to trace him back to his residence. Following a series of legal proceedings, Nasser was sentenced to death. During this process, Samad began to realize that Nasser took this path merely to resist the pressures of living in a collapsing social order. Promoted to the station chief, Samad submitted his resignation: he began to believe that the arrests and executions over the years had not fundamentally solved the drug problem, and that a series of violence only increased the number of addicts from 1 million to 6.5 million.
