The story takes place in a kingdom called Mahishmati, where a fierce battle for the throne is unfolding between Bahubali (played by Prabhas) and Bhallaladeva (played by Rana Daggubati). Bahubali is upright and brave, firmly believing that he should win the throne through his true strength, while Bhallaladeva is the exact opposite; cunning and treacherous, he is willing to go to any lengths to get what he wants. In the end, Bahubali, representing justice, becomes the king, but Bhallaladeva carries out an assassination attempt to usurp power. Bahubali's son is left in the wilderness and is adopted by a kind family, who name him Shiva (played by Prabhas). After growing up, Shiva learns about his true identity and discovers that royal blood flows in his veins. He decides to overthrow the tyrant ruler and reclaim his rightful throne.
