The Bewitching Tale

Officer Scottie Ferguson developed acrophobia during a chase, and had to resign from the police department to become a private detective. One day, Scottie's former classmate, Gavin Elster, approached him and requested that he track his wife, Madeline, who was suffering from a mental breakdown. Scottie initially found this idea quite ridiculous, but he began to follow Madeline anyway. When Madeline attempted to commit suicide by jumping into the water, Scottie saved her. He became intrigued by Madeline's mysterious beauty and comforted her, helping her escape the fear of death. They grew closer and confessed their love for each other, but Madeline became increasingly afraid and depressed. One day, Madeline left Scottie abruptly and quickly ran into a nearby clock tower; when Scottie rushed up, Madeline had already fallen from the tall tower with a scream and died. The courtroom investigation concluded quickly, ruling that Madeline died from suicide following a mental breakdown. Afterward, Scottie remained despondent until he met Judy Barton. It turned out that the real Madeline had been killed by her husband’s orders, and Judy was merely the façade that caused Madeline's mental breakdown. Once Scottie unraveled all the conspiracies, his acrophobia was cured.
