An Ning (played by Zhang Lanyi) lost her husband early on and, with her pitiful background, lives a reliant life with her daughter Xiao Xue (played by Zhang Enxi). Despite their hardships, the mother and daughter support and encourage each other, which offers An Ning a slight comfort in her heart. One day, misfortune strikes this mother-daughter duo when a masked man breaks into An Ning's home, intending to commit a crime against her. In the struggle, the man knocks over a lit candle, and An Ning's home is suddenly engulfed in flames. This fire claims Xiao Xue's life, leaving An Ning alone in the vast world once again. In her despair, An Ning desperately wants to find the culprit, but lacking evidence and clues, even the police are powerless. Zhao Min (played by Liu Luoxi) is An Ning's best friend, and to comfort her, Zhao Min invites An Ning to stay at her home. However, the two did not expect that the nightmare was just beginning.
