In the rehabilitation center for drug addiction, Jin Mo (Anne Hathaway) is brought back home by her father Paul (Bill Irwin) because her sister Rachel (Rosemarie DeWitt) is about to get married. However, she still has to attend addiction support group meetings regularly. Coincidentally, she discovers that her brother-in-law's best man Kiran (Mather Zickel) is also a member of the support group, and the two feel a strong connection as they share similar struggles.During their conversations, Jin Mo learns that she is not the bridesmaid, which angers her greatly. After some negotiation, Rachel finally agrees to let Jin Mo be the bridesmaid. However, this compromise doesn't help the sisters mend their relationship. Jin Mo's ill-timed 'apology plan' creates conflicts within the family, with her father being the only one who consistently cares for her. During an argument, Rachel mentions the tragic accident that caused their brother's death years ago, deepening Jin Mo's feelings of guilt and leading to a violent confrontation with their mother Abby (Debra Winger)...
