Wu Minghan (played by Xu Guanghan) is a straightforward police officer. During a call, he accidentally finds a red envelope on the ground, which leads him to be involved in a ghost wedding. The person he is supposed to marry is a man named Mao Bangyu (played by Lin Baihong). Although Wu Minghan is internally unwilling, he soon realizes that if he does not get married, bad luck will follow him continuously. Reluctantly, Wu Minghan holds a ceremony with Mao Bangyu in the funeral hall. The next day, Mao Bangyu's ghost appears before Wu Minghan, and to end this absurd farce, Wu Minghan must help Mao Bangyu fulfill his last wishes. He donates to an animal charity, visits Mao Bangyu’s boyfriend from when he was alive, and investigates the truth behind the accident that led to Mao Bangyu's death. Throughout this process, Wu Minghan and Mao Bangyu transition from 'fake husband and wife' to 'true friends'.
