Lucien is a theater actor whose health is declining. He forgets his lines on stage and feels confused and out of place in everyday life. Eventually, he decides to end his acting career and soon moves into a nursing home. In this new environment, the elderly man deeply misses his late wife. He begins to have nightmares that seem to become more and more real. In one of these dreams, he discovers a passage to a magical world that bears a misleading resemblance to his theater.Lucien starts to live in two parallel dimensions—reality and a fairy tale world, which gradually become interdependent and intertwined. His immersion in this fictional world ultimately leads to an unexpected conclusion. This is a bittersweet narrative about the passage of life. The fairy tale world that Lucien creates is less a metaphor for death and more a symbolic reconciliation with the impending arrival of death.
