An international research project led by China is taking place deep in the Mariana Trench when it encounters an attack from unknown creatures, trapping researchers at the bottom of the sea. Former US Marine Corps deep-sea diver Jonas Taylor is tasked with the rescue mission, but he encounters the prehistoric creature, the megalodon, which left him with unforgettable memories from years ago. Teaming up with Chinese scientist Zhang Suyin from the research project, Jonas successfully rescues the trapped personnel, but the operation inadvertently allows the megalodon to escape the deep sea. As the prehistoric beast returns to shallower waters, humanity will pay a heavy price for its greed against nature...
