An accident gives detective Yu Zilang (played by Guo Jinan) the ability to communicate with spirits, allowing him to sense the lingering messages from deceased souls. Zilang, already clever and capable, finds his skills amplified, leading to many solved cases. However, his outstanding talent arouses the jealousy of his superior, who under the pretext of retiring from the special murder investigation team, quickly transfers him to the despised department, D.I.E. Meanwhile, Madam Xing (played by Guo Xian Ni), eager to prove herself, continually complicates matters and ends up being sent to D.I.E. after numerous complaints. Both Madam Xing and Zilang find the people there quite strange, and as they both aspire to take over their retiring superior's position, they become rivals, engaging in various power struggles. Fortunately, they eventually make peace, and Zilang secretly develops feelings for Madam Xing as they join forces to seek justice for the wronged souls.
