Due to most parents working in southern cities, the village is left with mostly elderly people and children. Primary school teacher Yi Mingtang (played by Yi Zhibing) cannot bear to see these children repeat the path of their parents, so he decides to start a family kindergarten to teach the children cultural knowledge. His unemployed wife (played by He Weixin) becomes the principal, and middle school student Li Xiang (played by Xie Yuan) becomes a teacher. Due to harsh conditions, Yi Mingtang converts his ancestral home into an activity space for the children. After the kindergarten begins, various unexpected difficulties arise, with some families unable to afford even the low tuition fees. Tuo Tuo leaves the kindergarten due to Li Xiang's improper education, making Li Xiang feel guilty, and she wants to apply to a normal school to study systematically. When Xiu Xiu's mother comes back from working, her daughter doesn’t even recognize her, and coupled with her husband having an affair, she sadly leaves her hometown. Because Yi Mingtang does not have the qualifications to run a school, the village compels him to close the kindergarten. What makes Yi Mingtang heartbroken is wondering what will happen to these left-behind children in the future...
