In the jianghu (martial arts world), two major factions, the Eagle Claw Sect and the Snake Style Sect, have been enemies for generations, each wanting to completely eliminate the other. One dark and windy night, the Eagle Claw Sect launched an attack on the Snake Style Sect, resulting in a bloodbath where only the elder Bai Changtian (played by Yuan Xiaotian) managed to escape. To avoid the pursuit of the Eagle Claw Sect, Bai Changtian went into hiding under an alias in the marketplace. One day, Bai Changtian was bullied by some ruffians in the market, and a worker from a nearby martial arts school named Jian Fu (played by Jackie Chan) helped drive the ruffians away. However, Bai Changtian's identity was exposed, and he was ambushed by the Eagle Claw Sect. Luckily, he was saved by Jian Fu, who happened to be passing by. Bai Changtian decided to teach Jian Fu Snake Style Kung Fu. Clever and eager to learn, Jian Fu innovated the Snake Style after mastering it, creating the unique Snake Style Grasp. When the Eagle Claw Sect came looking for trouble again, Jian Fu stepped up to protect his master.
