Graduates of the same police academy, Zhang Weijie (played by Nicholas Tse) and Ni Feng (played by Edison Chen), went to work in different departments after graduation. Due to their outstanding performance in an operation, they were assigned to the major crimes unit led by Zhang Tiemin (played by Simon Yam), dedicated to eliminating the Ba Bi Ba La brothers. Zhang Tiemin is actually Zhang Weijie's biological father, and Weijie has always believed that his father abandoned him and his mother, filling him with hatred. Feng discovers that his mother’s boyfriend, Fei Qi (played by Lam Siu-Ming), has been captured by Ba Bi, and he attempts to rescue him but ends up being filmed during the encounter. Later, when Ba Bi is arrested, he uses this recorded footage to threaten Feng into letting him go. At this time, Feng has already married Weijie's cousin, Yingzhi (played by Gillian Chung), and for the sake of his family, Feng has no choice but to obey Ba Bi, resulting in his suspension.
