More than 50 years ago, a spaceship from Cybertron crashed on the Moon, triggering the space race between the United States and the Soviet Union. Humanity rushed to land on the Moon, all to uncover the secrets hidden within the wreckage of the spaceship. Fast forward to the early 21st century, after several battles, the Autobots finally defeated the Decepticon invasion and began collaborating with humans to protect beautiful Earth together. However, the incident in Chernobyl brought the long-buried lunar program back to the table. To prevent the Decepticons from finding the energon columns and using them for evil, Optimus Prime and his comrades flew to the Moon, where they rescued the Autobots' former leader—Vector Prime—from the wrecked spaceship. Vector Prime is the inventor of the energon columns, and by combining hundreds of them, a space bridge can be created, enabling the instantaneous transport of matter. Sam, busy looking for a job and navigating his relationship with his girlfriend Carly (played by Rosie Huntington-Whiteley), inevitably gets involved in this situation. He gradually uncovers the Decepticons' conspiracy to manipulate everything, but is unaware that a greater plot and crisis hides behind the shadow of the Moon...
