In 2028, the robot company Omni Corp, specializing in arms development, produced a large number of well-equipped mechanical police officers, who were deployed in peacekeeping and crime-fighting operations with significant results. In the crime-ridden city of Detroit, the righteous and justice-driven police officer Alex Murphy (played by Joel Kinnaman) falls victim to an enemy's conspiracy, suffering devastating injuries. With the help of Omni's brilliant scientist Dr. Dennett Norton (played by Gary Oldman) and cutting-edge technology, Murphy is resurrected in the form of a mechanical police officer. Multiple rounds of rigorous testing prove that Murphy is capable of undertaking the critical role of maintaining public security, and his reputation soars among the people, while his wife Clara (played by Abbie Cornish) and son David struggle to feel any warmth of family from him. Sensing the pain of his wife and son, Murphy is determined to retaliate against the crime lord who planned his murder...
