Neil is a high school boy who grew up in a single-parent family. He has a deep affection for science fiction anime hero Fang, but being introverted, he struggles to make friends in class and does not receive support from his family. Everything changes when Neil meets Julia, who shares his interests and has a strong personality; they hit it off immediately! Encouraged by Julia, Neil gathers the courage to submit his work to a well-known website, which promptly catches the attention of the site’s moderator, Dennis. His presence greatly broadens Neil's horizons, but it also impacts the friendship between the two high school students. Director Clare Foy captures the teacher-student generation gap, the confusion of adolescence, and the exploration of sexual orientation with a fresh and lively touch. The realistic anime scenes in the film intertwine with the plot, effectively showcasing Clare Foy's worldview.
