Synopsis

Sylvia (played by Nicole Kidman) is an African UN interpreter. By chance, she overhears a political conspiracy where they are planning to murder an African head of state at the UN General Assembly. They communicate in an African dialect, but unfortunately, Sylvia, who is fluent in the language, eavesdrops on their secrets. As a result, Sylvia becomes a target that others are eager to eliminate. The FBI sends agent Tobin (played by Sean Penn) to be Sylvia's temporary bodyguard. The two, with contrasting personalities, gradually get to know each other's backgrounds and stories, leading Tobin to suspect that Sylvia may be hiding a dark secret. There seems to be deep animosity between Sylvia and the African head of state involved in the murder plot. This raises Tobin's suspicions: is Sylvia a victim of the incident or a participant in the conspiracy? Tobin is both suspicious and determined to fulfill his duty to protect Sylvia. Amidst mutual distrust, they are drawn to each other. In increasingly dangerous circumstances, they must quickly uncover the truth.
