He Yaodong (played by Lin Wei) is a new immigrant who smuggled into Hong Kong after the Cultural Revolution. During his time in Hong Kong, he committed multiple criminal offenses and was wanted by the police across the territory. Upon returning to the mainland, he gathered his poor friends including Da Zhuangzi (played by Lan Xiangsen), Wu Yingtou (played by Fang Lie), Ba Zhong (played by Jiang Long), Sheng Ji (played by Chen Jing), and Fei Gu (played by Huang Jian), to discuss robbing a jewelry store in Hong Kong. However, their plan hit a setback when Da Zhuangzi was shot dead by a patrolling soldier while crossing the border. The remaining five continued with their original plan, but upon arriving at their destination, they found the jewelry store's iron door closed. It turned out that a lone thief had already visited the place and was apprehended by the police on-site. Frustrated, Da Zhuangzi and the others drove around the vicinity, attracting police attention. After a fierce chase, they managed to escape from danger. Driven by their dream of overnight wealth, they decided to stay in Hong Kong and wait for an opportunity to act, but this led them down a path of no return...
