Capture the prison and confine the beast.

Newly appointed prison guard Juan (played by Alberto Ammann) decides to experience the work a day early to showcase a good professional image. However, on this day, the prisoner leader 'Mother' injures the guard and leads a prison riot, plunging the facility into chaos. Juan is abandoned by his companions due to his injuries in cell 211, and to avoid being taken hostage by the prisoners, he has to disguise himself as a criminal to gain 'Mother's' trust, hoping to find an escape opportunity. The prisoners leverage three ETA terrorists serving sentences of over a hundred years inside the prison to negotiate demands with the authorities. As the government already has an agreement with ETA, both the prison and the special operations team are hesitant to take strong action, resulting in a stalemate. Meanwhile, the media coverage of the prison riot triggers a chain reaction, prompting family members to flock to the prison for information, only to be met with brutal beatings from the guards. Juan's pregnant wife suffers an unfortunate injury, pushing him to take desperate actions to ensure his escape and help quell the situation. The film swept the 2009 Goya Awards in Spain, winning eight major awards including Best Film, Best Director, and Best Actor.
