In the thirty-first year of the Republic of China, 'Huliela' was rampant in North China. The city of Beiping was sealed off by the Japanese army. Outside the city, there was a plague, and inside, there was a famine. A thug (played by Huang Bo), desperate with hunger, squatted in an alley to rob the wealthy and unexpectedly ended up taking two Japanese men to a Japanese restaurant. Inside the restaurant, there were only the owner couple and a resident performer. The Chinese owner couple consisted of a cowardly chef (played by Liu Ye) and his disabled, intellectually challenged wife (played by Liang Jing). The performer (played by Zhang Hanyu) was incoherent and rambling. How to deal with the two Japanese men became a dilemma. To assert control over the other two, the thug pulled out his gun, the owner unsheathed a knife, and the performer simply brought out a grenade. The three fell into a stalemate, while outside the restaurant, the Japanese army and the city’s puppet troops were conducting a citywide search. The situation then took an unexpected turn, leading to a series of absurd events and hilarious twists.
