The laid-back and unconventional Katō Tetsuhira (played by Takuya Kimura), who works at an advertising company, often finds it difficult to communicate with his colleagues in the creative department. As a result, he is transferred to the sales department, where he must bow and scrape to clients, after an angry outburst from his boss. It is a day of misfortune. For sales department assistant Uesugi Riko (played by Matsu Takako), the day is equally gloomy as she has just been dumped by her boyfriend. They encounter each other at a bus stop and spend a night together singing karaoke and cuddling, though nothing really happened. The next day, Tetsuhira runs into Riko at the sales department and discovers that they are now colleagues, and the lively and adorable Riko is well-liked by her coworkers. Tetsuhira has always been unable to forget his high school girlfriend Mizuhara Sanae (played by Junna Risa), and surprisingly, they meet again that day. Tetsuhira is overjoyed, while the married Sanae struggles to hide the problems in her marriage but cannot help but draw closer to Tetsuhira. Meanwhile, Riko has developed feelings for Tetsuhira and has been quietly doing many things for him. Tetsuhira feels particularly happy when he is with Riko. When Riko asks Tetsuhira for a definite relationship, he hesitates. Riko manages to buy Tetsuhira's favorite book and tells Sanae that she wants to give it to Tetsuhira in person. However, Sanae uses her tactics to make Tetsuhira stay with her, causing him to miss the date.
