Synopsis

The young painter Jacques hitchhiked from the countryside to Paris. On the night he arrived in Paris, he unexpectedly met Marth, who was contemplating suicide by drowning. Jacques saved her and accompanied her home, and they agreed to meet again the following evening. On the second night, Jacques and Marth shared their life stories, and at Marth's request, Jacques became the messenger between Marth and her lover. However, the callous lover did not reply, which left Marth very disappointed. In the following two nights, Jacques's feelings for Marth were finally reciprocated, and Marth expressed her love for Jacques. On the fourth night, just as they were walking hand in hand, they ran into Marth's original lover... This film is adapted from Fyodor Dostoevsky's short story 'White Nights'.
