 Synopsis
Timoteo (played by Sergio Castellitto) is a surgeon. One day, in a heavy rainstorm, a speeding car knocks down his young daughter, and after being sent to the hospital, she falls into a coma. The anxious father keeps watch by her side, but in his mind, another woman's face begins to become clearer. This woman is Ilaria (played by Penélope Cruz), who approaches him on such a rainy night to borrow a phone. A strange chemical reaction occurs between the two of them. Timoteo finds that Ilaria easily arouses his sadistic desires, and the numerous injuries on her body indicate that there are certainly other men who feel the same. Soon after, Ilaria becomes pregnant, but at this moment, Timoteo realizes he cannot let go of his own pregnant wife. Upon learning this news, Ilaria chooses to quietly disappear. When Timoteo receives news of her again, it is tragically her death.
