 Synopsis
The Dragon Arhat (Stephen Chow) descends from the heavens and makes a bet with the celestial beings, claiming that he will make three mortals sacrifice themselves for others within a certain time frame; otherwise, he is willing to undergo the agony of reincarnation again. The Tiger Taming Arhat transforms into the monk Ji Gong and comes to the human world. While enjoying life among mortals, he also helps those in need during his spare time. He chooses three individuals as subjects of his experiment: a nine-lifetime beggar (Anthony Wong) punished by heaven, a prostitute (Maggie Cheung) who suffers from men's abuse, and a ruthless thief (Huang Zhiqiang) who kills without hesitation. After cleverly arranging a series of events with his witty and mischievous tactics, Ji Gong establishes a good relationship with the three. Ultimately, the nine-lifetime beggar and the thief are moved to sacrifice themselves for others, while the prostitute falls deeply in love with him, causing him to ponder whether to give up his celestial identity to remain in the mortal realm.
