Record of the Suppression of Bandits in the Great Southwest

"The Record of the Anti-Detractors in the Southwest" is adapted from the real events of Cheng Lianzhen, a beautiful female bandit leader of the Bouyei ethnic group in Guizhou, who was granted amnesty by Mao Zedong. This drama narrates the story of how, after the liberation of various regions in 1950, the bandits in eastern Guizhou still acted as kings of the mountains, harming the common people. Among them was a gang led by a female bandit known as Zheng Yaomei, who attacked the newly established people's government and murdered innocent villagers. Our Southwest Liberation Army deployed 100,000 troops to conduct a comprehensive extermination of bandits in the Sichuan-Guizhou area, and most of the bandit gang was encircled and annihilated. Zheng Yaomei fled but was eventually captured. After reporting to the Central Committee, it received Chairman Mao's instructions for lenient treatment. After her amnesty, Zheng Yaomei was grateful and determined to turn over a new leaf. She several times went up the mountain to negotiate with the remaining bandits to persuade them to surrender. She also led the People's Liberation Army to search for and exterminate the stubborn bandits holding out in the mountains, ultimately resulting in the complete eradication of bandits in the northeastern Guizhou area. She achieved meritorious service and redeemed herself, gaining a new life.
