This show is a surprisingly hilarious little comedy that burst onto the scene in the second half of 2008. Originally, the creator wanted to make a TV series but couldn't find live actors or an animator to help him draw. So he explored on his own, using animation software to create a short film, which he then took to a festival. To his surprise, HBO picked it up, leading to it being adapted for television, becoming HBO's latest comedic masterpiece after Flight of the Conchords. The series revolves around the work life of the protagonist, TIM, depicting the various awkward situations he finds himself in as he is teased by colleagues, put through challenges by his girlfriend, and goofed around by friends. Each 25-minute episode is animated; while it may not induce belly laughs, it keeps the audience in a state of wanting to laugh while holding back. Although the visuals are very simple, one might even call them crude, the brilliant and humorous dialogue completely makes up for the shortcomings of the visuals, even lending a unique spirit to the otherwise straightforward images. Additionally, it's worth mentioning that the voice actors in this show have clear enunciation, proper pronunciation, and while the pace is fast, the vocabulary is simple, making it an excellent resource for learning spoken language. However, it should be noted that this is an adult animation, so some of the jokes have a bit of an edge to them, so it shouldn't be assumed to be PG or G-rated.
