The Cybertron civil war is raging. In a moment of crisis, Optimus Prime sends Bumblebee to Earth to wait for the opportunity to re-establish a base. Subsequently, Bumblebee lands in California in 1987, only to be captured by Agent Jack Burns (played by John Cena) and severely injured by pursuing Decepticon members, losing his voice and memory in the process. On the other hand, rebellious teenager Charlie Watson (played by Hailee Steinfeld) inadvertently comes across Bumblebee, transformed into a Volkswagen Beetle. They test each other and eventually become close friends, leading to many humorous situations. However, the good times don't last long, as Decepticon members Shatter and Dropkick chase them to Earth. They first deceive the U.S. government into trusting them, using satellite networks to track Bumblebee's location, and then attempt to summon a large Decepticon force to the planet. As Bumblebee gradually regains his memory, he is determined to protect his new friend and this beautiful blue planet all by himself...
