In the early 1990s, a bizarre explosion reduced a chemical factory engaged in military research to ruins, and three 'military test subjects' escaped from the laboratory and went missing. Because these three subjects are extremely dangerous unstable elements, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China dispatched the android Nie Ling (played by Yang Liqing) to track them down. Rumors spread that a series of robberies frequently occurred in Hong Kong, committed by three mysterious individuals who bore a striking resemblance to the missing test subjects, prompting Nie Ling to travel to Hong Kong to begin her crackdown operation. In Hong Kong, the police dispatched Yin Qiushui (played by Wan Ziliang) to join the crackdown effort. During a confrontation, Yin Qiushui was shot by Nie Ling's memory-erasing gun while trying to save a girl named Xiaoxue (played by Zhu Yin), and afterwards, Nie Ling was accidentally wounded by Yin Qiushui.
