"The Biedermann Comet" is rushing towards Earth, threatening a deadly impact on humanity. Authorities are taking urgent action, devising an optimal plan: astronaut Tanner (played by Robert Duvall) will pilot the spacecraft 'Messiah' to the comet, where a pre-prepared nuclear bomb will be placed and detonated to either break it into pieces or alter its trajectory. Tanner bravely completes the mission but finds that it does not yield the desired effect. The comet breaks into two parts, one large and one small, both heading towards Earth. The authorities quickly implement a final plan, the 'Noah's Ark' initiative, to preserve certain Earth species, including humanity. This is a secret underground refuge where only a select few can escape the impending disaster, awaiting the opportunity to rebuild the world after the catastrophe passes. The smaller fragment of the comet has already collided with Earth, triggering landslides and a cataclysmic scene reminiscent of the apocalypse. Meanwhile, the approaching larger comet promises destruction far beyond imagination, placing the human race in its final countdown.
