In a dilapidated apartment somewhere, the corpse of a woman who died months ago was discovered. Afterward, the deceased was brutally gnawed by more than a dozen hungry cats in the room, a sight too gruesome to bear. The police initially determined that the woman named Yoko Suzuki was a typical case of a lonely death, but the female officer in charge of the case, Ayano Ogawa (played by Manami Konishi), has a different opinion. The clues at the scene suggest that there is more to Yoko's death. The narrative takes a step back to reveal Yoko's tumultuous and bleak life. She was neglected by her mother since childhood, and after growing up, she moved to Tokyo to develop her career, enduring humiliation to sell one more insurance policy. Later, Yoko met a man, Takefaru Kamishiro (played by Yasuda Ken), who exploited the homeless to fraudulently claim welfare, which opened the door to hell for her. With every step, Yoko desperately severed ties with her past self... This film is adapted from the novel of the same name by Akira Yezhong.
