High school science teacher Jessica (played by Kim Basinger) is kidnapped, but fortunately, the place where the kidnappers have imprisoned her contains an old rotary phone. In a panic, Jessica randomly dials a number to seek help, and her call reaches a young man named Ryan (played by Chris Evans) on his phone. Ryan initially thinks it's a prank, but then the kidnappers discover that Jessica is trying to call for help and smash the phone. Hearing the kidnappers' shouts and Jessica's screams, Ryan realizes the seriousness of the situation. After the kidnappers leave, Jessica uses her knowledge from her science class to reassemble the phone and reconnect with Ryan. Through her explanation, Ryan learns that the kidnappers will soon target her husband and son, and Jessica doesn't even know where she is. Time is running out for Ryan, especially since his phone battery is limited. Ryan must do everything he can to save Jessica and her family's lives.
