An inexperienced actress is invited to play a role in a film adapted from the work 'Possessed' by the former Soviet writer Fyodor Dostoevsky. The director of the film is a Czech immigrant settled in Paris, who manipulates the actress's life, and soon, the actress cannot distinguish between the lines of performance and reality. Eventually, she plays the dead wife of another Czech immigrant in real life, becoming embroiled in a political assassination plot due to the director's manipulation.
