This film tells the story of the legendary master Huang Feihong during his youth. In the early years of the Republic, the young Huang Feihong (played by Jackie Chan) self-learned a powerful set of martial arts called Drunken Fist. However, to use this technique, he must first get thoroughly drunk, allowing him to break all the martial arts rules and unleash the power of Drunken Fist. Because of this, Huang Feihong's father, Huang Qiying, strictly forbids his son from practicing this style, which he views as uncouth and contrary to the principles of martial arts training. The mischievous young Feihong often practices Drunken Fist behind his father's back and defeats many strong opponents with it. One day, while traveling on business to the northeast with his father, they encounter a group of foreign bandits who secretly attempt to smuggle a national treasure—the jade seal—out of the country. To stop the bandits and retrieve the treasure, Feihong has no choice but to use his signature skill—Drunken Fist!
